There aren’t too many reasons to be chirpy in January but for the shoppers of us out there the January sales can be a great excuse for a bit of retail therapy. Home wares have much more longevity than the fickle world of fashion so you can pick up bits & pieces safe in the knowledge that your purchases won’t be passé come June.
I think the best things to look out for in the sales are the basics: good bed linens (see yesterday’s post), towels, bar and kitchen wares are all offered at discounts this time of year so if your stash needs freshening up then now is a good time to do it. As well as the basics you can find some fabulous home accessories which will up the luxe factor for less. The Conran Shop does an excellent sale – I recommend picking up some glassware by Nason Moretti or treating your coffee table to an acrylic dish from Alexandra Von Furstenburg.
The talented Bridie Hall has an array of lovely items on sale at Pentreath & Hall which is always worth a look – her decoupage dishes are beautifully made but do get snapped up so you need to be quick!
West Elm have regular sales throughout the year; worth keeping an eye out for. Last time I looked they had pretty faux-shagreen trays on sale – a perfect addition to a bathroom or bedside table for holding lotions & potions.
